My time spent working at a thrift store has all been worth it on this very day.
Where else can you get a kick-awesome, never-been-opened drawing tablet for so little money?

I mean, hey. It may be just a little outdated... but wouja believe it was only FIFTEEN BUCKS???

It's a Bamboo Fun. Small size. From 2007 or so.

I am so excited. :D

Now I just have to figure out how to use it...

Oh wouldn't it be funny if you couldn't use it because of proprietary drivers?

Yeah, me too. But right now I can't figure out how to make the dang thing work with GIMP. I can't get the pressure sensitivity thing to work.

Gimp is not the best program to work with. At least if you aim for drawings.
But it is possible. Just keep changing your settings until it good enough. ^^

I am new to digital art. Like, brand new.
What program would you recommend for drawing?

I use "Photoshop Cs6", "Cs5" is also nice.
Other people love "Paint Tool Sai"
These are the most capable programs to draw digital. Photoshop is not specialized in Drawing,
which is why it lacks certain futures like stabilization, which Paint Tool Sai does really good.
On the other turn, Photoshop has tons of effects and features you can work and experiment with.

Many people use them both, Sai for linearts (cause stabilization is awesome) and colours in Photoshop.
Sadly both of them are kind of expensive, with Photoshop a bit more heavy in terms of pricing
(If you are a student  you can buy it for 260 Euro).

Perhaps you can help. What other programs do you use?

well... i used firealpaca for some drawings ("pinkie pie digital attept" and "another digital attempt (fluttershy)") it's a free program, it's just that you can't do a lot of things with it...

i also tried to use PAINT.NET... i never submited anything that i drew with it (i never finished a drawing with it) but it's also free :)

i used photoshop most of the time but it's not a free program (at least, legally....) but you have 30 days to do whatever you want with it :D

and lastly, paint tool sai, not free but i love to use it^^ it's easy and you can do a lot of things, not as many as with photoshop though...

but if you can make it work with GIMP i recomend you to use it, gimp has more tools than firealpaca or paint.net^^
